What is the process?
The first step is meeting for a consult to discuss your timeline, determine how you can best be served, set my commission and prepare a contract to specify scope of items that will be consigned and services to be completed. Almost anything can be consigned for auction, items small and large, old or new.
For maximum exposure and best results we conduct our sales via an online auction platform built specifically for estate auctions that has local, nation-wide and even global visibility to customers. This platform is limited to licensed auctioneers only to sell but open for everyone to shop. Every sale is viewed by thousands resulting in hundreds of bidders though most of the buyers are local with many items able to be shipped all over the country.
To start, your items are sorted, cataloged and pictured to be featured in the auction. Once inventory is complete, the auction goes live usually for a period of 7-10 days. When the auction ends the funds are deposited into my required trust holding account within 48 hours, you get visibility on what the individual items sold for and a sale total, then you and I complete a final settlement document and you get paid! You pay nothing up front, my commission is collected from the auction proceeds. Any auctioneer is required to be licensed by the state and held to a fiduciary responsibility to conduct business in your best interest.
On-Site
For the on-site method, all of the auction items remain at your location while the auction inventory is prepared. This will require my staff and I access to the location for a number of days depending on the amount of inventory. Once auction is complete, during appointed times supervised by my staff and I, the buyers will come pick up their items.
Off-Site / Clean Outs
Off-site auctions are conducted by having all of your consigned items transported to my business location in order to free up your space more rapidly or add an additional level of convenience to you. The rest of the auction procedure remains mostly the same.
Buy Outs
This type of scenario occurs less often and usually in the case of an emergency or a need to just have items removed while still collecting some proceeds, instead of having the items donated or other wise disposed of.
